Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet

Safer Internet Day is a global day of awareness focused on helping young people, families, educators and communities use technology safely, responsibly and confidently. The goal is simple: create a safer and better internet for everyone.

Across the country, law enforcement, schools and community organizations are working together to start conversations about online risks, promote smart habits and connect people with resources that protect children and teens in the digital world.

About the ICAC Task Force
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program is a national network of more than 60 coordinated task forces and thousands of law enforcement agencies dedicated to investigating internet crimes against children and preventing online exploitation.

Created in response to the growing number of young people online and increased risks from predators and digital exploitation, the program supports investigations, training, victim services and community education efforts across the country.

Education and awareness are key pieces of prevention. ICAC partners regularly provide outreach, resources and guidance to help families, educators and communities recognize risks and keep youth safe online.

Why Safer Internet Day Matters
Young people today spend more time online than ever. While technology creates opportunities to learn and connect, it also presents risks including cyberbullying, scams, exploitation, online predators and misuse of emerging tools like AI.

Safer Internet Day is meant to:

  • Raise awareness of online safety challenges

  • Encourage conversations between youth and trusted adults

  • Promote responsible digital behavior

  • Connect families and communities with safety resources

This annual awareness effort brings attention to online threats and helps people of all ages learn how to stay safe while using digital devices every day.
